FULL-TIME PLAY THERAPIST VACANCY
Starting salary – £26,473 pa
Families First Bedfordshire is delighted to announce that the Big Lottery has continued to fund their Horizons Service and we are now looking to recruit a qualified Play Therapist to join our dedicated and passionate Horizons team. Horizons is an innovative service for women and children living in Bedford Borough who have been exposed to Domestic Abuse, Substance Misuse and/or Mental Ill Health.
The Horizons Play Therapy team tackles the growing mental health problem among our children by providing 1:1 and/or group therapy on a needs led basis. We have delivered our well-regarded play therapy service in local partner schools for over 5 years.
The role involves 37 hours of therapy delivery per week to children and young people in schools or other community spaces across Bedford. Our Play Therapists liaise with the school, maintain a clinical caseload, supporting this with appropriate clinical administration (including outcome measures), meet with parents/carers, attend supervision, training and CPD, and adhere to Families First Bedfordshire’s policies, procedures and Practice Standards in order to ensure the most effective support of children and young people. A full driving licence is essential for travel.
What we are looking for
There is also scope within this role to deliver training and facilitate new projects. You will have a keen interest in the work we do at FfB tied with a ‘can-do’ attitude. Demonstrable experience in supporting vulnerable children within your professional capacity as a Play Therapist is essential.
What we can offer you
You will be well supported by the Horizons Team. We will provide a safe and secure environment for you to work in and all expenses such as travel and external supervision will be met by the Charity. We offer family friendly policies; including paid family days, and a strong commitment to your continued professional development. Ongoing support and mentoring will be provided to the successful candidate through monthly line management supervisions. This is a great opportunity to work within a team of equally committed professionals.
